COVID-19 UPDATE.
Statement to all scheduled hunters booked to hunt during the 2020 season from the New Zealand Guided Hunting Industry - Revised 28 March 2020

On Monday March 23 The New Zealand Government announced that New Zealand will go into total lockdown for 4 weeks from midnight on Wednesday March 25. This follows the closing of our borders to all non-residents on March 19. This will mean any hunters travelling to New Zealand to hunt between now and the end of April will need to revise their travel plans.

The intention of the lockdown is to further limit the community spread of Covid-19 in New Zealand, which currently has 451 confirmed cases and no deaths. All New Zealand hunters have been advised to stay home and avoid any activity that could put themselves or emergency services at risk.

It remains the position of the New Zealand Guided Hunting Industry comprising the New Zealand Professional Hunting Guides Association (NZPHGA) and the New Zealand Association of Game Estates (NZAGE) is that of support for our government's initiatives for the health and safety of ourselves, our communities and our clients.

Our advice to industry members is to reschedule all hunters whose travel plans are affected by the 4-week lockdown. The New Zealand Government will review the lockdown at the end of this period and advise their next move at this time. Hunters can be rescheduled to another date later in the 2020 season, new dates in the 2021 season or beyond.

It remains the intent of the New Zealand Guided Hunting Industry to ensure all members to fulfil their commitments to their clients when possible and safe to do so.

We will be reviewing this statement periodically as information comes to hand. For updates on how Covid-19 is affecting hunting in New Zealand please visit the New Zealand Game Animal Council website on: https://nzgameanimalcouncil.org.nz/
